About half of the patients reported having experienced a fall. And of these patients just over half reported their symptoms worsened afterwards. When assessed by a doctor these patients were found to be more disabled than those who hadn't fallen and did not recover as well after surgery.
What should I take from this study?
This study shows very clearly that falls are common in patients with CSM. It also reconfirms that patients with more severe CSM are more likely to fall, and patients with more severe CSM do not recover so well after surgery.
